How Ike effects us all!

The rain and wind known as Ike will cause a lot of tragedy this weekend. Those in the Texas area will feel the worse of it but sometimes we forget that a disaster such as this effects many more people that those immediately effected.

Those of us living in the northern suburbs of Chicago are effected too. We support a professional baseball team that is in the race for the playoffs and every game is important. Two of these games between the Cubs and the Astros have been postponed due to these weather conditions.

I understand the fear associated in something like this, but I also know that professional athletes get paid millions of dollars a year to play a game. The least they could do is play in a little rain! Seriously! Think about the game itself. Ball going over the left field fence suddenly blow back and the catcher catches the ball. Players disappearing during a slide as they go through a mud puddle that resembles a lake. And the publicity! This game would have so many viewers, it might become more popular than Nascar!

Come on, Major League baseball, don’t be so wimpy and get out there and play a little ball!
