Large Hadron Collider Doesn’t End the World

Well they spent $3.8 billion to smash a couple of protons together from 17 miles apart and, from what I’ve read, it was a success.

After watching a special on this last night and they want through all the dangers, including creating a black hole, one begins to wonder. When talking about what will happen, it worries me when I hear words like "probably" and "maybe" and "We think".

They scientist tell us that even if a back hole is created, it would be so small it would be nothing to worry about. Granted I am not a scientist. In no way am I that bright. I do know, however, that black holes are something no one fully understands. No one has ever seen a black hole.

I could just imaging one of these white coat wearing geniuses spouting the words, “Opps, we didn’t expect that!” as the hole begins to suck in everything around it. As a Cubs fan, I thought, "Oh great, just when the Cubs have a chance and I'm going to be sucked into a black hole." I'm sure s Bud Selig had something to do with this!It didn't happen.

"My first thought was relief," said project leader Lyn Evans. I would think so, Lyn, the world isn't at it's end! She continued, "This is a machine of enormous complexity. Things can go wrong at any time. But this morning has been a great start."

They aren't done yet. They still have a lot more experiments.

It didn’t happen. I just wanted to let all the Threshold of Pain readers know they are safe. But for how long . . .
